Srinagar, Apr 12 (KNO): Amit Negi (35), a resident of New Delhi is a passionate explorer. Apart from exploring cultures, he equally loves to discover local cuisines in various parts of India and abroad.
This spring, he happened to visit Kashmir for the first time and had kept it in his bucket lists to taste local dishes.
As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), from Wazwan to street foods like Nada’er Monj’e, masala roti, he documented his entire Kashmir journey in the form of a travelogue.
“Food is what connects me with the people and the regions. I tasted wazwan and loved it. The street foods and local sweets here were too amazing,” he said.
Like Negi, scores of the tourists visiting the valley are captivated with the local cuisines and street foods.
As such many tourists keep the food tours in their itinerary to discover and relish the famous local cuisines of Kashmir.
This culinary delight, deeply rooted in Kashmiri tradition, has become a magnet for travelers seeking an immersive taste of the region's vibrant culture.
“We are on a six day tour to Kashmir. Apart from exploring many tourist destinations, we visited downtown where we got to taste many local foods of Kashmir. We loved it and decided to taste foods in every destination,” said Sumaya Kareem, a tourist from Uttar Pradesh.
Kashmir during recent years has become a favorite place for food vloggers from across the world whose food vlogs have garnered immense love from their followers.
From Dilse Foodie to Bukkhar Yatri, Hmm, Food Pandit and others, food vloggers travelled to every district of the valley to showcase the unique cuisines of Kashmir.
Travel agents said they have included food tours in their packages for the tourists to promote the local foods of Kashmir.
“We have many restaurants here, which serve authentic wazwan. We take our tourists to such spots to tickle their taste buds. Similarly, during winters, we get many requests from tourists for harissa and other street foods. Now, the majority of the travel agents mention it in their packages regarding food varieties available in Kashmir,” said Umar Ahmad, a travel agent—(KNO)
