Anantnag, Aug 19 (KNO): One of the vital roads in this south Kashmir’s Anantnag is in dilapidated condition, with the residents urging authorities to repair the stretch coming along the famous tourist destination of Pahalgam.
The locals told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the road from Pahalgam-Bijbehara to Nowpora via Bewora is one of the important stretches in the district that connects dozens of villages with Bijbehara and other towns.
They said the road macadamised around eight years ago is now full of potholes and requires immediate repairing.
It has developed cracks at several spots and is currently in a pathetic condition at most of the places, giving tough time to the locals as well as visitors to many tourist spots in the district, said Muzaffar Ahmad, a resident of Bewora.
He said the road connects dozens of villages with each other. How come authorities ignore the road of such vital importance, he asked.
Ahmad said the road witnesses a good rush and must be given priority.
The locals said that despite bringing the issue to the notice of concerned authorities several times, nothing was done.
They appealed to Deputy Commissioner Anantnag to look into the matter—(KNO)
