BR Sharma takes oath as State Election Commissioner | KNO

Srinagar, Jul 20 (KNO): Jammu & Kashmir’s former chief secretary BR Sharma was Thursday administered oath as State Election Commissioner. As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), J&K’s LG Manoj Sinha administered the oath of office to Sharma at Raj Bhavan today. Those who attended the oath ceremony include RR Bhatnagar (advisor to LG)Arun Kumar Mehta( chief secretary) P K Pole (chief electoral officer), Shaleen Kabra (principal secretary, Jal Shakti), RK Goyal (financial commissioner, Home department), Alok Kumar (principal secretary, School Education department), Dheeraj Gupta (principal secretary, Forests department) and other senior officers of civil administration. Sharma was appointed as State Election Commissioner earlier this month. The post of State Election Commissioner had fallen vacant on February 01 when KK Sharma completed his tenure. An IAS officer of 1984-batch, Sharma has held coveted positions in bureaucracy in Jammu & Kashmir as well as Centre. During the PDP-BJP rule, he served as J&K’s chief secretary. Sharma was appointed as chairman of Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission after his retirement—(KNO)
