Srinagar, Feb 25 (KNO): The residents of Chattabal area of Srinagar here have complained that the fish market in the locality leads to the frequent traffic mess while the ambulances carrying patients from northern districts to SMHS hospital here could also be seen stuck in the traffic mess. Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Mukhtar Ahmad, a local, said that the fish market in the already congested road is pushing them to the wall. “The frequent traffic mess could always be witnessed in the area and unfortunately, the ambulances carrying patients to SMHS hospital have also been seen stuck in the traffic congestion,” he said. Not only leading to the traffic mess, but the road also remains slippery as the fishmongers use to pour water on the road, which is proving risky to the commuters, he said. The local residents also demanded immediate relocation of the fish market for the wellbeing of the inhabitants, especially the commuters. Deputy Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Parvaiz Ahmad Qadri, said that the fish market is illegal as the fishmongers have no authorization to run their business at the spot. “If the people have any objection in this regard, they should approach us and a suitable action will be taken for their wellbeing,” he said—(KNO)
