Collective approach needed to elevate GMC Baramulla to world-class standards: Secy H&ME | KNO

Baramulla, Feb 10 (KNO): Administrative Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department, Syed Abid Rasheed Shah on Saturday stressed the need for a collective approach to elevate Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla to world-class standards. During his day-long visit to GMC Baramulla, Dr Abid engaged in extensive discussions with hospital authorities, doctors and patients to assess the institution's progress and challenges. “GMC Baramulla has made remarkable progress in a short time, evolving from a district hospital to a renowned institute attracting students nationwide for MBBS and postgraduate studies,” he said. Highlighting Baramulla's geographical significance and its status as an aspirational district, Dr Shah acknowledged the substantial influx of patients from neighbouring districts, raising expectations for the institution. The Secretary H&ME commended GMC Baramulla for performing advanced surgeries and providing specialised treatments, saying such accomplishments are indicative of top-tier institutions. Acknowledging existing challenges, Dr Abid emphasised the importance of collective efforts involving the people of Baramulla, GMC Baramulla staff, and the Health and Medical Education Department to ensure the institution's continued growth. He expressed confidence in witnessing positive developments in patient care and infrastructure with concerted efforts. Accompanied by DC Baramulla Minga Sherpa, Principal GMC Baramulla Dr Ruby Reshi, Medical Superintendent AHGMC Baramulla Dr Parvaiz Masoodi, and other officials, the Secretary conducted a thorough inspection of all departments and interacted with patients during his visit. During the inspection, he issued directives to address various departmental concerns and enhance operational efficiency. Dr Syed Abid also interacted with the media persons of Baramulla. He welcomed suggestions and feedback, acknowledging their valuable contribution to the healthcare sector. He expressed gratitude to them for their insights and recommendations aimed at further improving GMC Baramulla's services and infrastructure—(KNO)
