First-ever floating ATM comes up at famous Dal Lake | KNO

Dwellers say crucial places should be identified for installing more such machines

Srinagar, Sep 31 (KNO): In first of its kind, the State Bank of India (SBI) has taken an initiative to ease the sufferings of Dal dwellers as well as the tourists by installing an ATM at world famous Dal Lake here in Srinagar. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the first-ever ATM has been installed at Ghat number 8 and was inaugurated by Chairman SBI, Dinesh Khata in presence of SBI's Chief General Manager Chandigarh Circle, Anukool Bhatnagar on August 16. The ATM has put an end to the sufferings of Dal dwellers as well as the tourists, who were earlier being forced to cross the water body to reach ATM. The floating ATM has been installed on the houseboat namely New Life, belonging to Saqib Ibrahim Baktoo. Baktoo, when contacted said that it was long pending demand of the local Dal dwellers as well as the tourists, visiting from different parts of the country. “Since its installation, the people especially the tourists heaved a sigh of relief as they are no longer forced to cross the water body and walk miles,” he said. He along with other local dwellers, demanded other Banks to follow the suit and put an end to the sufferings of locals and tourists. “The vital places at world famous Dal Lake should be identified and ATMs must be installed there so that people could heave a sigh of relief,” they said. “There is a need to come up with more such initiatives including the medical facilities for the wellbeing if the dal dwellers as well as the tourists,” they appealed—(KNO)
