FM Sitharaman begins 3-day visit to Leh

Leh, Jun 14 (KNO): Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman arrived in Leh on Saturday, marking the start of her three-day official visit to the Union Territory of Ladakh. She was warmly received at Kushok Bakula Rinpoche Airport by Member of Parliament Haneefa Jan, Chief Secretary Pawan Kotwal, Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Leh Adv Tashi Gyalson, DGP Dr SD Singh Jamwal, Administrative Secretary Shashanka Ala, Deputy Commissioner Santosh Sukhadeve, SSP Shruti Arora, along with senior BJP leaders and officials. During her stay, the Finance Minister, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) will engage with officials from LAHDC Leh and the UT administration. She is scheduled to inaugurate multiple developmental projects and chair a Credit Outreach Program with UTLBC Ladakh, focusing on enhancing credit flow and strengthening financial inclusion in the region. Sitharaman will also visit key locations including Nyoma, Hanle, and Rezangla in the Changthang region to review ongoing developmental activities and assess local needs. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited the historic 17th-century Leh Palace during her stay in Ladakh. Built by the revered King Singe Namgyal, the palace stands atop a steep rocky hill, overlooking the city and reflecting the region’s rich cultural heritage. During her visit to Leh, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met several delegations to discuss regional development and administrative priorities. She held an interaction with Member of Parliament Haneefa Jan, and later met with a delegation of Executive Councillors from the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC Leh), led by its Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, Tashi Gyalson. The meetings focused on key developmental issues, financial inclusion, and the ongoing efforts to strengthen infrastructure and economic growth in the Union Territory—(KNO)
