Poonch, July 18 (KNO): The army Tuesday said that four terrorists were killed in an encounter at Surankote area of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the northern army command in a tweet said: “Operation Trinetra-II. In a major cordon and search operation, acting on a specific intelligence, four terrorists were eliminated in a joint operation by army and police near Sindarah and Maidana villages in tehsil Surankote of Poonch district.” The tweet further said that along with the terrorists four AK-47, two pistols, and other war like stores were also recovered. “Elimination of these terrorists has avoided major terrorist initiated incidents in Rajouri and Poonch area. Search operations are still in progress,” the army said. A senior police official said that the identity of the slain was being ascertained and that it was being investigated whether the group was involved in Dhangri, Rajouri civilian killings and attack on army vehicles in Poonch besides other incidents. “That’s the matter of investigation. Further information will shared accordingly,” he said—(KNO)
