Gowhar Wani: PhD scholar from Shopian bags three more prestigious awards | KNO

Shopian, May 05 (KNO): A young PhD scholar hailing from Shopian district has brought laurels to Kashmir by bagging three more prestigious awards after winning "International Young Economist Award 2021" by the Centre for Professional Advancement, West Midlands. The three prestigious awards he won this time include World Intellectual Property Accreditation Scholar Medal in Economics, Indo Asian IIP outstanding Econometrics Scientist Award and Adam Smith National Academic Eminence Award. Gowhar Ahmad Wani, 27, a resident of Safanagari village in South Kashmir's Shopian district, is presently pursuing PhD in School of Economics, Central University of Kerala. He has done his masters from University of Kashmir. Gowhar while talking exclusively to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that he feels proud by getting these awards and wishes that more Kashmiri scholars should come forward to win national and international research and academic awards. He said that world Intellectual Property Accreditation Scholar Medal in Economics is given by Centre for Professional Advancement West Midlands United Kingdom, Indo Asian IIP Outstanding Econometrics Scientist Award by International Multidisciplinary Research Foundation India and Adam Smith National Academic Eminence Award by Red Talks International India. Within three and half years, Wani presented 14 papers in national and international conferences and attended 11 workshops and training courses on research methodology, quantitative techniques and learning softwares. He has published several papers in national and international journals. Besides, he has also published a few papers in edited books as well. Wani at present is a reviewer for few research journals and lifetime member of five academic and research organisations of India. Till now, Wani has received 14 awards which includes Young Economist Award by Centre for Professional Advancement, West Midlands, Young researcher Award by Institute of Scholars Bangalore, Young Scientist Award by Aufau Science Forum, International Young Scientist Award by International Institute of Organised Research, Indo Asian- Elinor Ostrom Distinguished Innovative Researcher Award in Economics by IMRF- Institute of Higher Education and research, Best Research Scholar by Novel Research Academy Pondicherry, Pratibha Samman Golden Peacock Award, Top 100 International Distinguished Researcher Award and besides others. Wani said that besides researching many things, he has developed three Index formulas viz. Infrastructure Index, Service Quality Index and Sustainable Tourism Index related to the tourism sector of Kashmir Valley. “The youth of Jammu and Kashmir are much intelligent and talented. However, lack of exposure and deficient facilities don’t allow them to excel,” he said—(KNO)
