Srinagar, Apr 29 (KNO): Amidst the dry weather conditions, several areas across Kashmir have witnessed heat wave with Srinagar, the summer capital of the region, recording the all-time second-hottest April day at 30.8 degree Celsius on Tuesday. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Pahalgam, famous tourist destination, recorded an all-time highest April day at 27.8 degree Celsius, breaking the previous record of 27.4 degree Celsius, recorded on April 04, 1979. Qazigund, a gateway of south Kashmir, has recorded a maximum temperature of 29.4 degree Celsius while Kupwara recorded 29.2 degree Celsius, the data reads. As per the details, Kokernag recorded a day temperature of 28.2 degree Celsius and Gulmarg; a famous ski-resort, recorded 22.2 degree Celsius. Pertinently, the weatherman had predicted a dry spell from April 27 and had stated that there is a possibility of a heat wave at a few places across J&K for the next few days. Director Meteorological department (MeT), Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said that the weather is expected to remain generally dry from tomorrow upto May 1. He added that there is a possibility of light rain and thundershower at isolated places on May 2 and May 3. The MeT has, however, stated that there is a possibility of generally hot & dry weather over Jammu division with heat wave at isolated places for the next few days and advised people to stay hydrated & drink plenty of water, fluid & stay indoors and avoid working in the open during peak hours (12-3 pm)—(KNO)
