Sopore, Jul 31 (KNO): The Municipal Council Sopore has issued a stern warning against people over improper disposal of solid waste, saying non compliance with regulations will led to severe penalties including fines, shop closure and legal actions. In a notice issued, a copy of which lies within the possession of news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the council while addressing the rising concerns over improper waste disposal methods by households, street vendors and shopkeepers particularly during evening hours, states that the persistent littering, accumulation of waste results as a breeding ground for pests and a danger to both public health and safety. "Despite the availability of garbage collection services across the markets and residential areas, a continuous trend of waste being discarded on roads and lanes is significantly contributing to pollution and higher management costs,” it said. Council's Chief Executive Officer, Showket Ahmed Bhat, has urged all the stake holders to adhere to strictly to proper waste disposal methods to maintain a cleaner and safer environment for all. To combat the persistent issue, the Sopore Municipal Council has reiterated the enforcement of the Solid Waste Management Rules 2016 and Sopore Solid Waste Management By-Laws 2019. Non-compliance with these regulations will result in severe penalties, including fines, shops closure and legal actions against repeat offenders. The council is committed to stringent enforcement to ensure compliance and protect the town's environment and public health, official through the notice said besides, asked the stakeholders to immediately abstain from littering on roads, water bodies and nalla's lanes or by lanes—(KNO)
