‘Gwalior, Chandigarh expected to start soon’

Jammu, Mar 18 (KNO): Direct flights for Dehradun may start from Jammu Airport by end of this month while connectivity to Gwalior and Chandigarh is also expected to start very soon, said Sanjeev Kumar Garg, Airport Director, Jammu. As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Member Parliament Jammu-Poonch Constituency Jugal Kishore Sharma chaired the airport advisory committee meeting. Highlighting the addition of new sectors, passenger facilities, development works and various issues, Sanjeev Kumar Garg, Airport Director, Jammu said that flight for Dehradun is going to start soon by the end of March 23 and other new sector like Gwalior, Chandigarh also are expected to start soon. Sources said that flight between Dehradun and Jammu would be started with a 70-seater aircraft and later a Boeing plane will be used if the number of passengers increases. The added that devotes and general public will be benefited with direct air connectivity between Dehradun in Uttarakhand and Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir as both the places are equal important with their religious places like Haridwar, Rishikesh, Kedarnath, Badrinath etc in Uttrakhand while Vaishno Devi, Amaranth Shrines and other important religious places in Jammu and Kashmir. Bureaucrats, armed personals, students will also get benefit of the direct connectivity, as Dehradun housed Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie, Indian Military Academy, Forest Research Institute, Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) and people able to travel between Jammu and Dehradun in less time. “The discussions between the Airport Authority of India and air service provider companies are in the last phase and the flight for Dehradun may start at the end of this month,” an official said. Earlier, Jugal Kishore Sharma chaired the airport advisory committee meeting. Members raised the issue of addition of new flights and demanded early morning flights to Srinagar—(KNO)
