Jammu, Jun 07 (KNO): Condolences began pouring in from all quarters of the society for renowned Dogri Singer and music composer Surinder Singh Manhas, who died here early on Wednesday.
As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the 49- year-old singer and music composers, who also famous for his remixes of folk songs and lullaby, has been suffering from a deadly disease from past some time.
Thousand participated in the cremation of Surinder Singh Manha at Shantio Ghat, near Patoli, Jammu.
Surinder Singh Manhas occupied the frontline position, be it music, films, singing and other allied utilities. To his name was an unending string of awards, honours and recognition as he stood apart in his élan among his contemporaries as well as the next generation. His command over his expertise in the music industry has earned him a distinctive reputation and has been first choice among the theatre and film doers.
The demised of Manhas widely condoled by political and social leaders, cine starts and member of Dogri film and music industry.
Political leaders including Former Jammu Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh, Senior BJP leaders Balwant Singh Mankotia, Rajeev Charak, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Congress leader Raman Bhalla, Yogesh Shanwey extended their condolences to the bereaved family.

Expressing deep condolences to the family of the bereaved, Jammu and Kashmir Cine Association termed the loss as a personnel saying that the bereaved had been always a great support to the cine world of Jammu and his untimely death has left many shattered.
“His death has created a great void in the society and personnel loss to many art doers who have been in close association with Surinder Singh Manhas for their various pursuits in singing and filmmaking,” said Dharminder Kohli, president JKCA.
General Secretary Atul Vinod Duggal said that the demise of Surinder Singh Manhas has not only left his family bereaved, but the entire artists’ fraternity that has very close association with him as an artist as well as a family member. “It is purely a personnel loss,” he grieved.
At his individual demonstration, Surinder Singh Manhas had done B Music and was a music composer as well as Sound Engineer. He was A-Grade Dogri Folk Singer and B-Grade Music Composer in Hindi and Dogri. He had worked with Doordarshan, Radio Kashmir and J&K Cultural Academy and had given music to many feature films like ‘Kuggi Maar Duari”, ‘Mauj Masti’ and others.
He was also the recipient of 10 times Academy awards for annual drama festivals held in erstwhile state and present UT of Jammu and Kashmir. For T-Series, GMC and PCI, he had rendered recordings of music and was the first choice of many directors.
The JKCA governing and members body today held a 2-minute silence in prayers for the departed soul and expressed condolences to the family to bear the irreparable loss—(KNO)
