Srinagar, Jan 05 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir gets its first Calisthenics Academy in Bemina Srinagar namely ‘Tiger's Calisthenic Academy’.
Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) Imran, the trainer and incharge of the academy, said that the academy came into existence with the help of the army and was introduced during the World Tourism Week.
“We have about 12 to 15 students who are getting trained now. I hope it will attract more youth, being a new thing in Kashmir,” he said. “The academy aims to provide training to Kashmiri youths in the gymnastics format.”
Imran said that basic self-defence classes will also be conducted in the academy.
“There are many youths who are involved in illegal wrong activities like drugs, I request them instead of damaging your body and life it's better get involved in this academy to work on your physique and fitness,” he said.
Calisthenics are exercises that don't rely on anything but a person's own body weight.
These exercises allow for the development of strength, endurance, flexibility, and coordination.
