Srinagar, Mar 17 (KNO): The All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) and the J-K Peace Forum, an organization of Kashmiri Pandits, have strongly condemned the Centre’s decision to ban the Awami Action Committee (AAC), led by Kashmir’s chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, calling it "unjust and detrimental to the peace and development of Jammu and Kashmir."
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) Correspondent, APSCC President Jagmohan Singh Raina said that it is unfortunate that a ban has been imposed on the Awami Action Committee, which, according to him, has always been a social organization since its inception, running educational institutions and engaging in humanitarian efforts.
Raina emphasized that the Awami Action Committee has consistently worked for the protection of minorities in Kashmir. He added that, given the current circumstances where the moral fabric of Kashmiri society is under threat, organizations like the AAC play a crucial role.
Satish Mahaldar, President of the J-K Peace Forum, an organization of Kashmiri Pandits, stated that the move to ban the AAC is not only unjust but also detrimental to the peace, harmony, and development of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement, Mahaldar said, “We call upon the Government of India to urgently review this decision and refrain from creating barriers in Dr. Mirwaiz’s crucial work for the betterment of the state and its people.”—(KNO)
