Srinagar, Dec 09 (KNO): Ravees Ahmad, a resident of Downtown’s Khanyar locality, is all set to represent India at the 20th World Pencak Silat Championship 2024, slated to be held in Abu Dhabi, from December 18-December 22, 2024. As per the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the youth from Khanyar area of Srinagar has been selected to represent India in the World Pencak Silat Championship 2024, and his story of determination is serving as an inspiration for the young boys and girls in the Valley. “I owe my success to my coach—M. Iqbal, and to the people of my community who have supported me throughout my journey. Representing India at the World Championship is an honour, and I am committed to inspiring the youth of Downtown Srinagar to follow their dreams just as I have pursued mine,” said Ravees. Pertinently, Ravees said that beyond personal achievements, he is dedicated to giving back to his community by mentoring young athletes and underprivileged youth in the region. “My efforts have, and in future empowered countless aspiring athletes from Srinagar and all parts of the valley to dream big and pursue opportunities in sports, and I am ready to help everyone who is ever in need,” he said. Notably, the 20th World Pencak Silat Championship will feature top athletes from across the globe competing at the highest level. It is worth mentioning, Pencak silat is a full-body fighting form incorporating strikes, grappling, and throwing, in addition to weaponry. Every part of the body is used and subject to attack—(KNO)
