Spot to be developed as tourist destination, work to begin soon, says official

Srinagar, Jul 20 (KNO): Lam, a breathtaking site in Aripal belt of Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district has been craving for attention from the authorities. Locals told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Gujjar Saran is a very beautiful place with great tourism potential but needs government attention. They said that the area is as beautiful as Pahalgam but the government has failed to give it connectivity due to which less people visit the spot. Mohammad Abbas, a local resident said that hundreds of youth visit Lam-Gujjar Saran area on a daily basis but they have to go by foot for about two kilometers as the condition of the road is very bad. He said that Lam-Gujjar Saran lush green forest and a canal has crystal water, which attracts people towards it. Basharat Ahmad, another local said that this area has huge tourism potential but that needs to be channelized properly. He said that hundreds of people from this economically backward area can earn their livelihood if it is developed properly. Locals said that they have brought this issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times but to no avail. They urged the tourism department to develop it as a tourist spot, adding that developing it as a tourist destination can help locals to earn livelihood. Meanwhile, an official told of the tourism department said that the area is being developed as tourist destination, adding that the work is expected to be started soon—(KNO)
