Srinagar, Jul 18 (KNO): Following the reports of a leopard sighting near Badamwari Park yesterday evening, the wildlife department on Tuesday installed sensor-based camera traps and a cage in the area, said officials.
A senior wildlife official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that although they haven’t had any impressions about the presence of animal in the area, they have exercised caution and have installed traps and a cage.
“Although there have been no such impressions or footprints visible about the presence of an animal in the area, a team was sent there, and we have installed the sensor-based camera traps and cages in the area,” the official said.
He said that other than evidence from a boy, a student of ninth standard, who claimed to have witnessed a leopard last evening, they have not witnessed anything ‘concrete’ on the ground about the presence or movement of animal in the area.
“No foot impression, no marks, no fecal matter, and no other evidence is on the ground, but as a precaution, we have set up a trapping procedure and that will remain there as per the situation”, he added.
