Srinagar, May 02 (KNO): Thin rush and less enthusiasm was being witnessed at famous Chori Bazar in Pulwama on the eve of Eid-ul-fitr.
Shopkeepers at the Bazar told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that they were expecting a good rush and sale ahead of Eid-ul-fitr but no such scenes were seen and sales were below par.
Pulwam has remained the epicenter of violence mainly after 2016 as this southern district had witnessed frequent shutdowns and internet blockades but shopkeepers say they were making good sales on Eid but that wasn't the case this year.
Jahangir Ahmad a shopkeeper at Chori Bazar Pulwama told KNO despite Covid restrictions in the last two years, sales were good and whosoever was visiting shop was at least purchasing an item or two at least.
However, this year sales remained all time low as most customers who were checking different items leave them there once they hear about the rates of these items, he said.
Inflation and poverty due to Covid-19 lockdowns have badly hit J&K and poor people have hardly meet their ends, he said.
Same voice was echoed by other shopkeepers while adding that there was low rush and less enthusiasm among the public on the eid due to inflation and poverty.
It is pertinent to mention here that Chori bazar in Pulwama is famous for ladies and kids wear items and customers from whole South Kashmir and parts of Budgam and Srinagar are visiting there to buy items—(KNO)
