Srinagar, Aug 12 (KNO): Senior National Conference (NC) leader and former MLA Surankote, Choudhary Muhammad Akram has asked the J&K government to increase the salary of contractual Assistant Professors across J&K.
In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Akram said these educators play a critical role in shaping the future of our youth and deserve fair remuneration for their dedication and hard work.
He said that the current salary disparity is unfair and demotivating for contractual assistant professors, who are the backbone of our education system.
“It's vital to align their salaries with UGC norms, as has been successfully implemented in Ladakh," he said, adding that assistant professors Ladakh now receive Rs 57,000 per month, while as their counterparts in J&K are still struggling with Rs 28,000/month which is merger with regard to their efforts.
He also urged the government to take immediate action to address this issue, ensuring that these educators receive the financial stability and recognition they deserve—(KNO)
