Srinagar, Feb 21 (KNO): A day after Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the crucial rail link of USBRL project, Congress party has claimed that the project in actuality was its brain child and that it was an incomplete railway line that was inaugurated by the Prime Minister on February 20. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Congress spokesman in Jammu and Kashmir Ravinder Sharma told reporters in Jammu that the railway project inaugurated amid much fanfare by the Prime Minister was actually in complete one and stretches merely from existing Banihal station to Sangaldan, Ramban. “It was not the complete project of what can be called a railway link between Srinagar and Jammu. It is still an incomplete project but BJP seems to be in hurry to inaugurate incomplete projects as the code of conduct is in the offing for the forthcoming LS polls,” Sharma said. He added that the crucial rail-link between Jammu and Srinagar was the brainchild of the Congress party and the major portion pertaining to Udhampur Baramulla Rail Link was completed during the UPA regime and was inaugurated by the Congress leadership in the past. “However, we must appreciate wherever any development has happened and any services are being provided to the common masses but what we are seeing on the ground is a pathetic situation with democratic rights being muzzled and institutions of justice being eroded. We are fighting for the restoration of those rights and for dignity,” Sharma said. The Congress spokesman while commenting on former PDP leader Muzaffar Hussain Beigh attending the Prime Minister’s rally in Jammu termed Beigh a “man of free will”. Sharma said that he cannot comment on Beigh’s switching of sides as it is his own will to set his proximities. However, the Congress spokesman added that the INDIA alliance is intact and thriving in view of the coming LS polls—(KNO)
