School Closures, stone pelting, hartal calls a history now: DGP Dilbagh Singh | KNO

Says situation peaceful in J&K at present, more peace on cards; No complaints of atrocities, thrashing by forces from any part of UT, people living a happy life

Srinagar, Dec 14 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh Wednesday said that time of school closure, stone pelting and hartals was over while the UT was witnessing a peaceful atmosphere that will be made a permanent feature. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function at Loran area of Poonch district, DGP, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that J&K is witnessing a peaceful atmosphere and all efforts are on to cement the peace in the UT. “There was a time when there would be closure of schools, hartals and stone pelting. These things are a history now. Youth are exploring different means to showcase their talent and are earning their livelihood through various means,” the J&K police chief said. He said that at present people across UT are living a peaceful life and there is no threat to anyone. “No complaints of atrocities, coercion or thrashing of anybody is coming from any part of the UT. At the same time, we are ensuing that nobody is warned and threatened by vested interests,” DGP Singh said. He said that efforts are on to foment trouble and disturb the peace but forces are alert and maintaining close synergy to foil all such bids. About infiltration, he said that efforts from across are on to push in militants into this side but security grid is alert and the infiltrators are either killed while entering into this side or in the hinterland. He said that Poonch-Rajouri belt has been used by militants to infiltrate but the people and the security forces have always protected their land and foiled the all the efforts made by the infiltrators—(KNO)
