Anantnag, Feb 27 (KNO): Residents of Sehpora in Anantnag’s Dooru on Monday staged a peaceful protest against the PDD for failing to repair their electric transformer. As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), protestors said the existing transformer has developed technical snag four times in a month. They said that the 100 KVA transformer develops technical snag frequently and it just caters to 15-20 houses with meters installed. Mudasir Ahmad, a local, said that the government increases electricity fee as per their will but they have failed to upgrade infrastructure as their transformer has developed snag four times in the last one month. It seems that transformer whenever is taken to workshop isn't being repaired well, otherwise there is no load on it, he said. Locals said if old transformers are developing technical snag frequently, they must install level 2 transformers here or the existing transformer must be repaired very well. “We are reeling under darkness and students are suffering mostly whose exams are about to start,” they said. They said that they have been raising this issue with the concerned officials to no avail. An official of the concerned department said that the transformer is being repaired and will be installed at the earliest—(KNO)
