Jammu, Jul 23 (KNO): The Congress party has gone into the election mode with the announcement of formation of a manifesto committee, which will be headed by the former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president and former Member Parliament (MP), Saifuddin Soz. To further make this committee people oriented, sub committees have been formed which will be visiting every nook and corner of Jammu and Kashmir to get the pulse of the people on various issues which will be made part of the manifesto. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), PCC president Vikar Rasool Wani, while addressing a press conference here today, said that the Congress party manifesto will be based on the feedback received from the people of Jammu and Kashmir which will cover all the burning issues like restoration of statehood, Darbar move unemployment, plight of casual labourers, traders’ problems, property tax, electricity and other things. “People have seen what the Congress party’s manifesto was for the Parliamentary elections as well as Assembly elections of different states. We have talked about guarantees and here as well guarantees will be there in the manifesto,” the PCC president said. The manifesto committee will be supervised by the two sub committees in Jammu region which will be co-chaired by former Members of Legislative Council (MLCs), Ravinder Sharma and Naresh Gupta, who will be visiting five districts each of Jammu region to talk to the people. “These sub-committees will be filing their reports to the manifesto committee within 15 days. They have been assigned the task to talk to the people at block level, Assembly constituency level and district level so that aspirations of people will be covered in this manifesto,” Wani added. The PCC president said that one of the main points in the manifesto will be restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir which was snatched by the BJP-led government at the centre. “You must be aware that during his first speech as leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi lambasted the government for downgrading a beautiful Jammu and Kashmir from state to union territory. Congress party is committed to restore the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added—(KNO)
