Srinagar, Jan 12 (KNO): Be it sun or snow, the Tulips are all set to bloom in the coming months to mesmerize the tourists as well as locals, said Ali Muhammad (Name Changed), a Gardner, who was at the garden this afternoon when nobody was around him as the mandatory work has already been completed. Presently, Kashmir is witnessing prolonged dry spell since December last year while the ongoing 40-day harshest winter period, known as Chilla-Kalan has not brought any relief yet as so far 23 days of the period have ended on a dry note. The prolonged dry spell, as per the experts, is the serious cause of concern as it would end up in serious repercussions in the coming months. However, Ali Muhammad said that there would be least impact on the Tulips with the persistent dry spell. “The Tulips don't specifically need snow or sun. It can grow in any case,” he said. Furthermore, he added that the ground work has already been completed in mid December and the Tulips will start blooming after a few months depending on the weather conditions. Javaid Masood, In-Charge Tulip Garden told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the Tulips are all-weather flowers and can grow in any case. “It doesn’t need any specific weather conditions or mandatorily snow to grow,” he added. He added that the water is being poured in the flower beds, which is enough to have Tulips in full bloom. Pertinently, with five more varieties in upcoming season, the Asia's largest, Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden Tulip garden, located in the between Dal Lake and the Zabarwan hills is set to witness a blooming of 1.7 million tulip bulbs for the first time. Officials said that compared to 68 varieties in previous year, they have decided to increase the number of varieties to 73 in this season—(KNO)
