Ganderbal, Feb 28 (KNO): Residents of Tullamulla village, located just four kms from the district headquarters of Ganderbal in central Kashmir, here have alleged that the issue of faulty drainage system has not been resolved, thus leaving them to lurch at large. Local residents said that after a light rainfall, the drainage system failed to function properly, causing water to flow onto the roads. One local resident, Ghulam Ahmad, told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), “Even a small amount of rain causes havoc here. The drains overflow onto our roads, making it impossible to walk or drive without getting wet.” Social activist, Bilal Bhat, said, “This has been a persistent problem. We have raised this issue before, but nothing has been done. We need proper drainage before the situation gets worse. He said he raised the issue in all Back to Village programmes, Block Diwas Programmes and Public Darbar programmes so far.” He urged the concerned authorities and local communities to come up with a permanent solution of drainage. The situation has raised concerns among the villagers, as the improper drainage infrastructure is leading to flooding, even with minimal rainfall. Locals have called for immediate action from authorities to address the problem and prevent further disruptions. Residents fear that if the issue is not resolved promptly, it could worsen with heavy rainfall, leading to more severe flooding and inconveniences in the area. Residents of Tullamulla appealed to the Deputy Commissioner, urging them to address their concerns by providing a proper drainage system. “We seek a resolution so that we could heave a sigh of relief,” he said—(KNO)
