Editor-in-Chief of KNO, Kashmir Thunder mourns loss, calls him guiding light for journalism

Srinagar, Feb 22 (KNO): Veteran journalist and former Bureau Chief of Zee News in Kashmir, Naseer Ahmad, passed away on Saturday morning. The 60-year-old’s Nimaz-e-Jinaza was offered after Zuhr prayers in Bemina, Srinagar. Naseer is survived by his wife and two daughters, whose demise has been widely condoled by the journalist fraternity and political leaders. Editor-in-Chief of the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Nasir Azam Khan, while mourning the loss of a veteran journalist, said, “Naseer Ahmad was a seasoned journalist whose contributions to the field will always be remembered. His dedication to truth and fearless reporting set a benchmark for many. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family in this difficult time.” Khan, also the editor-in-chief of Kashmir Thunder, a daily publishing newspaper, along with his editorial team, expressed grief, stating, “The journalism fraternity has lost a stalwart today. Naseer Ahmad’s work was an inspiration to many, and his absence will be deeply felt. May Allah grant him Jannah and give his family the strength to bear this loss.” Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti also condoled the death of the senior journalist. “Deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Naseer Ahmad, the senior journalist and former Bureau Chief of Zee News. His invaluable contributions to journalism will always be remembered. May Allah grant him the highest place in Jannah and provide strength to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Ameen,” Mehbooba Mufti wrote on X, formerly Twitter. National Conference (NC) Chief Spokesperson Tanveer Sadiq echoed similar sentiments on X and wrote, “Deeply saddened by the passing of veteran journalist Naseer Ahmad, former Bureau Chief of Zee News in Srinagar. His contributions to journalism were invaluable and will always be remembered. May Allah grant him Jannah and give strength to his family and loved ones in this difficult time. Ameen.” Peoples Conference also expressed condolences, saying, “Saddened to hear about the passing of Senior Journalist and former Bureau Chief of Zee News, Naseer Ahmad. Our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. May his legacy continue to inspire future generations of journalists.”—(KNO)
