Srinagar, Apr 16 (KNO): Police on Thursday arrested 13 alleged drug peddlers and seized contraband substances in multiple operations across Kashmir as part of the ongoing “Nasha-Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan.”
According to the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), in Anantnag district, police carried out a series of operations leading to several arrests and recoveries.
Acting on specific information, a police team from Srigufwara raided a house in Dachigam and recovered around 2 kg of charas-like substance.
In separate naka checking operations at Shakras and Pethnoo Crossing, two persons were apprehended with around 2 kg of charas-like substance each.
In another operation, police intercepted a passenger auto at Iqbal Market near Mill Mod and arrested two persons, recovering about 12 grams of heroin from them.
Separately, one person was apprehended at K.V Pora Marhama, and around 7.854 kg of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession, they said.
In Awantipora, police arrested two persons travelling on a motorcycle at Toll Plaza and recovered 1.258 kg of charas-like substance. The motorcycle was also seized.
In another naka checking at Nambal Crossing along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, two more persons were held with around 12 grams of heroin-like substance, officials said.
In Pulwama, one person was arrested at Zadoora with 520 grams of poppy straw and 30 grams of charas powder-like substance. In a separate operation at Tujan Telsar crossing, another individual was apprehended with around 3 grams of heroin-like substance.
In Ganderbal district, police recovered about 580 grams of charas-like powder from a cowshed during a search operation conducted in the presence of an executive magistrate and local representatives, and arrested one person.
Cases under relevant provisions of law have been registered in all instances and investigations are underway, police said.
Police reiterated their commitment to curbing drug trafficking and urged the public to share information about such activities, warning of strict action against those involved—(KNO)
