Covid-19: Cases continue to swell as 172 people test positive; tally at 129,203 | KNO

No death reported in last 24 hours, active cases increase to 1593; recovery rate decreases to 97.24 per cent

Srinagar, Mar 25 (KNO): The Covid-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir continue to rise as 172 fresh positive cases were reported on Thursday pushing the number of active cases near 1,593 which otherwise were less than 600 a few weeks before. No death was reported in last 24 hours in UT, however, active cases continues to increase and recovery rate decreases with each passing day. 172 fresh positive cases reported on Wednesday pushed the tally of positive cases to 129,203. Of the exact number of 129,203 cases, 76,658 are from Kashmir and 52,545 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 172 new cases, 131 belong to Kashmir division while as 41 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 76,658 including 74,198 recoveries and 1,251 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 52,545 including 51,429 recoveries and 732 deaths. The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,593 including 1,209 from Kashmir division and 384 from Jammu division. With 92 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 125,627 which is 97.23 percent of the total cases. “Cases tested positive in J&K include 65 from Srinagar, 30 from Baramulla, 16 from Budgam, 05 from Pulwama, 02 from Kupwara, 08 from Anantnag, 03 from Bandipora, 00 from Ganderbal, 00 from Kulgam and 02 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 41 from Jammu division include 34 from Jammu, 00 from Udhampur, 00 from Rajouri, 02 from Doda, 03 from Kathua, 02 from Samba, 00 from Kishtwar, 00 from Poonch, 00 from Ramban and 00 from Reasi," officials disclosed. As per officials figures, 28,315 positive cases including 467 deaths and 27,101 recoveries are from Srinagar, 8,583 including 178 deaths and 8,230 recoveries are from Baramulla, 8,092 including 7,856 recoveries and 120 deaths are from Budgam, 5,943 including 5,805 recoveries and 92 deaths are from Pulwama, 5,756 including 97 deaths and 5,628 recoveries are from Kupwara, 5,125 including 5,016 recoveries and 94 deaths are from Anantnag, 4,741 cases including 4,660 and 62 deaths are from Bandipora, 4,698 including 4,638 recoveries and 47 deaths are from Ganderbal, 2,765 including 2,692 recoveries and 54 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,640 including 2,572 recoveries and 40 deaths are from Shopian. In Jammu division, 25,654 including 24,970 recoveries and 379 deaths are from Jammu district, 4,335 including 4,266 recoveries and 57 deaths are from Udhampur, 3,888 including 3,824 recoveries and 55 deaths are from Rajouri, 3,452 including 3,376 recoveries and 64 deaths are from Doda, 3,286 including 3,218 recoveries and 53 deaths are from Kathua, 2,852 including 2,800 recoveries and 41 deaths are from Samba, 2,740 including 2,717 recoveries and 22 deaths are from Kishtwar, 2,538 including 2,501 recoveries and 24 deaths are from Poonch, 2,140 including 2,115 recoveries and 21 deaths are from Ramban and 1,660 including 1,642 recoveries and 16 deaths are from Reasi. As per the daily information bulletin 1,460,865 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 29,624 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 1,593 persons are in isolation. According to the bulletin, 1,301,786 persons have completed surveillance period and 125,879 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 5,858,408 samples are available. Out of 5,858,408 the number of samples tested negative stands at 5,729,205 while as 129,203 have tested positive, among them 1,593 persons are active, 125,627 persons have recovered and 1,983 persons have died—(KNO)
