Srinagar, Sep 21 (KNO): Inspector General of Police Kashmir Sujit Kumar, IPS, on Monday chaired a security review-cum-traffic management meeting with stakeholders at Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir.
According to a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the meeting was attended by senior police and CRPF officers, including DIG Traffic Jammu, DIG Central Kashmir Range Srinagar, DIG Traffic Kashmir, CRPF officers, SSP Srinagar, SSP Traffic City Srinagar, zonal SPs and other officials.
During the meeting, officers briefed the IGP on the prevailing security situation in their respective areas and shared suggestions to address gaps in security arrangements and improve traffic management.
The existing security grid and deployment of personnel across Srinagar City were reviewed, with particular focus on realigning naka points wherever required to strengthen security coverage and reduce congestion at traffic bottlenecks.
Kumar directed officers to ensure effective security arrangements across intra-zone, inter-zone, inter-district and peripheral areas.
He also called for strengthening check posts at Srinagar’s entry and exit points and ensuring seamless coordination and real-time information sharing among Traffic Police, District Police and naka points for effective monitoring and swift response.
The IGP stressed the need to use technology to improve traffic regulation, surveillance, coordination and information sharing, while ensuring that traffic movement remains smooth without compromising security.
The meeting concluded with Kumar emphasising continuous review, close coordination and professional implementation of security and traffic-management measures, with a focus on public safety and minimising inconvenience to commuters—(KNO)
