Tulip preparations begin, 8 lakh bulbs being imported from Holland | KNO

1st lot expected to reach by this week, says Asst Floriculture Officer

Srinagar, Nov 12 (KNO): While the soil temperature has plummeted, the preparations for Tulip garden, located on the foothills of Zabarwan Range, here, are in full swing with the officials claiming that the first lot of bulbs is expected to reach from Holland this week. Imran Ahmad, Assistant Floriculture Officer told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the process of sowing bulbs, already available with the department, has been started at the garden. “Two lots of the Tulip bulbs are expected to reach from Holland. The first lot of bulbs will be arriving this week only while the second lot will reach by next month,” Ahmad informed. “We get new varieties every year. 8 lakh bulbs will be imported from Holland this year as well,” Ahmad said, adding that additional 3 lakh bulbs are available with the department. “We are expecting a good Tulip show this year as well with the color variety of 25-30,” he said. Pertinently, Asia’s largest Tulip Garden this year, has set a new record by welcoming over 8,55,125 lakh visitors during the season. A total of 8,55,125 tourists visited the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden from March 26 to April 24 2025, surpassing all previous records. Notably, the Garden was closed for the public on April 24, 2025, which remained open for a 30-day period previous season. The record-breaking footfall includes locals, national and international tourists who came to witness the mesmerizing bloom of over 1.7 million tulips of different varieties—(KNO)
