Srinagar, Feb 13 (KNO): Unscheduled power cuts in different areas of South Kashmir's Shopian district is irking them and is giving tough time to them in this bone chilling cold. Locals have expressed strong resentment against the PDD department for failing to restore to the scheduled power supply in dozens villages of the district. Residents from several areas of the district while speaking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), alleged that the step motherly behavior of Power Development Department (PDD) has left them in complete darkness since November last year. Residents of Chotigam,Kumdallan, Nadigam, Kutpora, Lonepora, Narsoo, Tachloo, Manzimpora, Check Sidiq Khan, Tuldhan, Kharwara, Nildor, Abalwan, Nagishern, Kachdoora, Hermain, Mantribugh, Hajipora, Gahind, Chakoora, DK pora, Alamganj, Kanihama Landoora and it's adjacent areas have expressed strong resentment over irregular power supply in the area and appealed authorities to look into the matter. They alleged that they are hardly getting a supply of just three to four hours per day and despite repeated requests to the concerned authorities no attention is being towards them. They said that they have appealed authorities in this regard so many times but to no avail. They further added that all those residents are having problems who are receiving supply from Landoora receiving station. Subzar Ahmad a resident of Chotigam said if our power supply is 1 pm to 6 pm, "we get supply at 1 pm for a few minutes and before six for a few minutes." He said that "if we are submitting a fee on time every month, then where is our power supply?" Locals said that they brought this issue in notice of concerned officers so many times but so far nothing has been done in ground. They requested Chief Engineer Power Development Corporation to look into the matter and redress the issue at an earliest so that they can heave a sigh of relief. An official of the PDD said that said that this area is getting eight hour power supply due to some issues at Lassipora Grid station, from where this receiving station is getting supply. He said that we are replacing new conductors at the Lassipora Grid station which will take few days more, after which area will get scheduled power supply—(KNO)
