Bandipora, Mar 05(KNO): Even after more than eleven years, the construction work on Government High School at Pannar a remote village of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district is still incomplete, locals complained on Friday.
As per the details available with News-Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the construction work of the high school was started in 2010 at an estimated cost of Rs 42 lakh but despite the passing of almost 11 years, the building is yet to be completed as the department left the construction work mid-way.
Locals said that due to the lackadaisical approach of higher authorities the smooth functioning of the school had been suffering badly from a long time.
The locals said that the secondary school is functioning in old primary school building which is not in a favourable condition, thus leaving the both student and teachers in deteriorated conditions.
"Despite eight available posts of masters, only one master grade teacher is running the whole school," they claimed.
Mushtaq Khan, a local, said the condition of the present school is getting worse each passing day.
"The teacher who is being posted here wants doesn't want to come to the school. The consequences of which is directly affecting our children," Khan said.
"For the last two years, the results of 10th grade in the school have been recorded as zero per cent which clearly shows that the future of our children is getting worse day by day," he said.
Mustafa Khan another elderly resident said, that they have approached the administration about the issue many times but no action was taken.
The locals and students appealed the Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha to personally look into the matter and ask the concerned department to expedite the construction work and complete the project without any further delay
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad said that he has sought a comprehensive report from the chief education officer on the matter.
"We will definitely come up with a concrete solution, " he said.-(KNO).
