Ganderbal, Nov 10 (KNO): The construction of Tunnel from Gagangeer area to world’s famous tourist resort, Sonamarg in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district has left a huge chunk of population in distress as the locals living in Shutkari village, located near the site have claimed that many among them have even lost their houses due to the high density dynamites, being used during the ongoing work. “The usage of high density dynamites by executing agency has affected the normal life in the village, located closer to the construction site,” the locals told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), adding that their residential houses have not only developed cracks but the loud bangs of explosives are also frightening the residents. They said they are not against the construction of the tunnel, but want proper execution by using dynamites of low intensity. According to the locals, the executing agency is using high density explosives to make their work easy, thus simultaneously neglecting the sufferings of Shutkari residents. The local said that some of the affected families are living in the temporary tin sheds in the area, adding that the residents are moving from pillar to post seeking compensation for the losses since year 2017 but nobody paid heed to their sufferings so far. Locals told KNO that since the construction was started, many families have lost their homes and as the winter is approaching, the issues being faced by these families must be looked into at an earliest. Meanwhile, the inhabitants appealed the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene into the matter—(KNO)
