Jammu, Feb 18 (KNO): Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Thursday deeply regretted the irresponsible and oblivious remarks made by certain political leaders that can stall the process of restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. According to a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Bukhari was addressing a reception cum interaction programme with youth organized by the Party at its Jammu office. Earlier, on his arrival in Jammu, Bukhari was warmly received by the Party leadership including Party Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir, Vice President Aijaz Khan, General Secretaries Vijay Bakaya and Vikram Malhotra, Provincial President Manjit Singh, Provincial President Kashmir Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Narmta Sharma Provincial President Woman Wing, Bodh Raj Bhagat State Coordinator (SC), Madan Lal Chalotra State Coordinator (OBC), Pranav Shagotra Coordinator Jammu Central, Ex-MLA Ghulam Hassan Khan, Noor Mohammad Sheikh District President Srinagar, Ex-MLA Qamar Choudhary, Nazir Ahmad Dailgami Provincial Secretary, DDC Chairperson Srinagar Aftab Malik, Raqeeq Ahmed Khan Vice President Youth Wing, Muzzafar Hussain Reshi General Secretary Youth Wing, Abhay Bakaya General Secretary Youth Wing and Gourav Kapoor Provincial President Youth Wing (Jammu). Referring to the recent remarks made by PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, Apni Party President said that it seems that the leaders affiliated with the so-called People’s Alliance want perpetual sufferings for the people of J&K. “Since its inception, the Apni Party has been vigorously pursuing the restoration of statehood to J&K so that the people have an elected and accountable government that can address their woes on priority. Now this goal set by the Apni Party is about to materialize, some leaders seem to be hellbent to stall this process,” he remarked. Bukhari said the government of India has also realized the pain and sufferings of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and that is why the union home minister in his recent speech in the Parliament reiterated his promise on restoration of Statehood. “Unfortunately, the insensible voices emanating from J&K against the Statehood depicts their innate desire and mindset of keeping the Kashmir cauldron on boil. Since these leaders are enjoying the government perks and privileges, they seldom understand the sufferings and miseries of common masses,” he remarked. He said the policy of two-hoots played by these leaders is well established to which over seven decades of history of J&K stands a silent testimony. “These leaders are experienced in specious utterances drenched in emotive sloganeering. However, people are not in a mood to buy their rabble-rousing anymore,” Bukhari added. Apni Party President observed that many political leaders in J&K make vague statements just because they fear that the people of J&K will hold them accountable for their misdeeds and emotional blackmailing committed for decades. Bukhari said: “They are currently tussling hard to make themselves relevant in J&K political spectrum by misleading slogans but unfortunately at the cost of the peoples' interests. I wonder why these leaders are creating hurdles and disrupting the process of restoration of statehood which guarantees peoples’ socio-economic and political empowerment.” Bukhari asked the youth wing of the Party to work hard for the welfare of people and to foil the designs of nefarious designs who want instability in both the regions of Jammu and Kashmir. “Political leaders who make irresponsible utterances are doing immense harm to the public interests in J&K. However, they stand exposed for their contribution in political disempowerment of the people that has been carried out since decades with their collaboration,” he added. He impressed on the Party leadership and particularly the young workers to adhere to the Party’s principles of truthful and pragmatic politics. “Even if it costs us dearly, we should not make any commitments with the people which we cannot fulfill,” he remarked—(KNO)
