Bandipora, Dec 12 (KNO): The remote Tulail village in Gurez valley in northern Kashmir's Bandipora district on Saturday finally got mobile connectivity, giving much needed relief to the local residents.
An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the long-awaited demanded of people living in the Tulail area have been met.
"People will now get access to voice calls and Jio-4G network," an official said. "The residents of the area can now use mobile services to stay in touch with their family and friends."
Abdul Qayoom, a local resident, said that he is pleased to see the availability of mobile connectivity in his village for the first time in my life.
"This was a dream for us, now mobile phones will work here," he said.
"We thank the administration especially the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora who toiled hard to provide to ensure mobile connectivity in our village," Qayoom said.
A group of locals said that without mobile connectivity, they were facing a lot of difficulties.
"We felt like we had no connection with the world. Now people are feeling very happy since the mobile service has started here," they said.
Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Owais Ahamad said in future they will extend the mobile connectivity to other villages of the Gurez as well.
"It may take some more time to install other Jio-towers because the only road connecting Gurez is closed due to the accumulation of snow. We are not able to work properly during winter months," he said.
Pertinently, the Gurez valley which is located on the line of control witnesses’ heavy snowfall during the winter season and remains cut off from the rest of the Valley for more than six months due to the closure of Bandipora-Gurez road—(KNO)
