Ladakh, Jul 25 (KNO): Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Kavinder Gupta on Thursday said that Ladakh is a “unique region in the world” with immense potential for tourism and development.
During his visit to Shargol, Gupta said he had travelled through several areas and found the region to be rich in opportunities. “There is great scope and potential for tourism here,” he said as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), urging the youth of Ladakh to explore livelihood options that align with the region’s strengths.
He also said that access to water, electricity, and roads is the right and responsibility of every citizen. “The people of Ladakh are good and patriotic,” Gupta said while expressing confidence that the development goals can be achieved through collective efforts.
Speaking about local governance, the Lieutenant Governor noted that the administration has been engaging with the people of Ladakh for over a week and is studying their concerns.
He said ongoing discussions with representative bodies like the Apex Body (APEC) and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA), which have been vocal about their demand for statehood.
“The demands of the people of Ladakh will be met,” Gupta said, adding that the Government of India has been working on every issue raised by the region’s residents. “We have met the demands of the people of Ladakh,” he added—(KNO)
